OVER £1 million is being invested in road repairs and improvements across the county by Derbyshire County Council in September.
The money is part of a £12m package of Government transport funding to support a range of measures identified in the council's local transport plan for 2006-11.

Councillor Brian Lucas, cabinet member for environmental services, said: "Improving the road network is a priority for the council.

"We continue to work hard to improve and maintain the condition and safety of our roads and pavements for local people."

During September, work costing £40,000 to improve roads locally will be carried out by the county council in the High Peak in the following areas:

· B5470 near Crossings Road, Chapel-en-le-Frith - £15,000 – Pedestrian island

· Manchester Road, Chapel-en-le-Frith - £25,000 – Pedestrian refuge, bus stop improvements and speed review.

Details of any other organisations carrying out work likely to cause disruption to the county's roads are available on the county council's website www.derbyshire.gov.uk
