CONSTRUCTION of modern business units on a gateway site into Chapel-en-le-Frith has been given the green light by councillors.
Nine units, which will together create more than 2,100 square metres of additional workspace, are to be built on land enclosed by Bowden Lane, the A6 and the A624.

The development received full planning approval by High Peak Borough Council's Development Control Committee on Monday.

Commenting on the plans, Cllr Michael Harrison urged council officers to ensure the design and materials were sympathetic to the area, and that the site was adequately screened and kept clean and tidy.

"This is a very prominent gateway site into Chapel-en-le-Frith," he added.

The units will be arranged in a courtyard-style, along with 63 parking spaces, on land which is allocated as a Primary Employment Zone in the Local Plan.

One of the units is being purpose-built for Buxton company Uniscan, which has outgrown its existing premises and has been searching for suitable premises to relocate within the High Peak for the past two years.
